Telstra Wholesale's Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) is a transmission service used for simultaneous transfer of voice, IP, data and video on the one network.
ATM gives customers the network infrastructure to develop their own or user networks. The ATM service can handle heavy and constant traffic at the same time, enabling customers to optimise bandwidth demand.
ATM is ideal for network builders, major carriers and ISPs and enables access to our broadband products plus aggregated delivery of other products such as Telstra Wholesale Internet (TWI) and MegaPoP.
Benefits
- Wholesale ATM is also available to numerous international destinations through Telstra’s joint-venture company Reach.
- The variable bit rate service allows heavy traffic transmission and enhances burstability. The peak burst rate is typically set at twice the sustained rate. This suits most data applications and can save thousands of dollars.
- Meshing is part of the service, so customers don’t need a separate physical termination for each communication link. Links connecting multiple offices can terminate on one interface for simplified, less costly connectivity.
- Scalabity means that customers aren’t forced to migrate to another carriage product when business growth demands extra capacity or bandwidth.
