Why did you choose to become an opera singer?
I began singing at a very young age by singing along to my grandfather’s old 78’s. I always dreamt of becoming a singer and it just grew from there. I have been lucky to have opportunities and have tried to make the best of them.
What sort of training have you undertaken?
I completed my bachelor of music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and have studied music as well as foreign languages in the UK, Germany and Italy.
The beauty of this profession is you are always a student, and privileged to be in some small way part of this wonderful art form.
How is working with Pacific Opera helping to advance your singing career?
This company is fantastic. It is innovative, vibrant and provides me with the chance to learn in an environment that is nurturing as well as challenging. The opportunity to work with wonderful industry personalities is an enormous honour.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
It’s hard to pinpoint a specific occasion - the opportunity to study overseas and the joy of working with wonderful people in this wonderful art form is a joy every day.
What is your next goal?
All young singers dream of becoming opera stars, but the most important thing for me is to aim for truth and constantly strive to improve as an artist. The rest is dependent on so many things - but if we sing well and enjoy communicating something to our audiences, this is a special thing!
