Telstra Wholesale recently created a suite of data solutions that is simpler to understand and easier for our customers to manage. We can now offer data solutions for Business Access services which are supported by a single contract, simplified pricing, as well as streamlined quoting, ordering and billing processes. The Executive Director of Telstra Wholesale’s Products and Marketing team, Terry Scerri, explains how our new data solutions can help make our customer more competitive.
“Today’s service providers operate in a dynamic environment, characterised by increasing competition, complexity and customer service expectations,” explains Terry.
“Our new Data solutions combine high-quality networks, service and operational capabilities to create simple, flexible and scalable solutions.
“In an effort to improve our customers’ experience when doing business with us, we have changed our approach to focus more on the end-user requirements our customers are seeking to meet.
“We can now offer new Business Access and Backhaul solutions designed to help providers use our products and services in the most effective way to tap into new revenue opportunities, control costs and deliver an enhanced end-to-end customer experience, making them more competitive in the business data market.”
Business Access solution
Telstra Wholesale’s new Business Data Access Solution (BDAS) is designed to address the individual needs and challenges service providers face when delivering access services in the business market. Wholesale customers can now buy solutions based on end-users’ different speed, service levels and location requirements.
As Terry explains, BDAS offers our customers greater features, commercial flexibility and operational efficiency by integrating and leveraging our Layer 2 network capabilities into a single Ethernet offering.
“BDAS offers simple, scalable national access and aggregation connectivity with a choice of bandwidths ranging from 256kbps to 1Gbps and a selection of four grades of service across both copper and fibre access types,” says Terry.
“Through an easy-to-use online tool our customers have instant access to customised pricing, enabling them to quote on their end-user requirements quickly, reliably and efficiently.
“All of this, plus a simple national pricing and zoning framework helps providers of business IP services reduce time to market, tap into new revenue streams and markets and boost end-user satisfaction.”
Backhaul solutions
Telstra Wholesale’s Fixed Backhaul, Core Transport and Mobile Backhaul solutions meet the key challenges providers face, offering solutions that meet their needs for today and into the future. These solutions deliver high-performance backhaul connectivity nationally to Wholesale’s customers across multiple technology platforms, and in a simple and commercially attractive construct.
Core Transport solutions
Telstra Wholesale’s Core Transport solutions address the critical bandwidth, performance and connectivity demands that carriers and service providers face when interconnecting their multiple Points of Presence (PoPs) and Data Centres.
As Terry explains, by leveraging Telstra’s extensive core network infrastructure, Wholesale can design and deliver Core Transport Solutions over geographically diverse fibre paths between all capital cities to improve redundancy and reduce the risk of end-user impacting outages.
“Our Core Transport Solutions leverage a number of Telstra’s layer 2 transport networks – Wholesale Transmission, Carrier Grade Ethernet and Telstra Wholesale International Private Line - to provide extensive Australian and Global connectivity.
Fixed Backhaul solutions
“We also offer Fixed Backhaul solutions that are designed to address the evolving challenges of service providers in providing backhaul to their residential and business access networks.
“Our customers can choose from scalable fixed backhaul solutions that meet bandwidth requirements of residential ISPs, as well as higher performance characteristics to enable them to expand service offerings such as Triple Play (Internet, Voice and IPTV) and business access services.
“Our breadth of service offerings and capability means that we can tailor a roadmap and roll-out plan that enables a seamless migration from traditional ATM and SDH leased lines to Ethernet-based backhaul solutions.
“All of which helps providers of business IP services to reduce time to market, tap into new revenue streams and boost end-user satisfaction.”
